Forgetfulness is considered a character flaw, which I am sure you would agree that God does not possess. Choosing not to remember our sins, however, is a demonstration of God's mercy and grace toward sinners. It is not a negative flaw that causes him to forget, but his positive attributes that allow him to choose not to remember. Maybe I am being too picky about the semantics.
